Oak Wealth Advisors was named the 2023 NAPFA Excellence in DEI Award Winner this month by the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. NAPFA is the leading organization of fiduciary financial advisors. The award recognizes firms supporting NAPFA’s strategic imperative to create and innovate a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the financial planning profession.
Oak Wealth Advisors’ mission is to provide education, resources and wealth management services to families who have loved ones with disabilities so that they can focus on their families’ greatest needs. When we succeed, individuals flourish and families live their lives to the fullest extent possible.
We shine a light on the skills and abilities of individuals with disabilities. All the employees of Oak Wealth Advisors have a loved one in their family with a disability. We sponsor art contests with various organizations serving individuals with disabilities to source images for our birthday and holiday cards. The artists and the organizations are both recognized in the cards we mail to hundreds of clients and friends of the firm. Client thank you gifts are sourced from individuals with disabilities and companies who employ them. In fact, all the art in our Northbrook, Illinois headquarters office was created by individuals with disabilities.
Mike Walther, who founded Oak Wealth Advisors in 2008, has been working with NAPFA to bring more awareness to events and dates celebrated by various groups. His role on the NAPFA DEI Committee includes educating financial advisors and drawing attention to the diversity of goals among the clients advisors serve. Mike has also presented at NAPFA’s national conferences about special needs financial planning. In addition, Oak Wealth Advisors Associate Consultant Tony Schneider served on a NAPFA DEI Panel at the 2022 NAPFA Spring National Conference speaking about workplace inclusion.
Looking forward, the team at Oak Wealth Advisors aspires to serve more families who have loved ones with disabilities. Whether it is a presentation at a conference, a webinar, or working with families on an ongoing basis, making a positive impact in these families’ lives is our purpose.
